7th October 2007 Summer has arrived at Westloch! A little late I know but very welcome. The fish are on the top and sport is fantastic. Many large Browns and Rainbows to 9Lbs have been taken on small black dries. The fry should be on the menu as the water temp has fallen to 9oc. The weather looks settled for the week ahead so we will keep our fingers crossed for another great week. Rod average for the year is 4.01

15th October 2007. The last three weeks have been outstanding, the weather has been fantastic and the fishing even better. With temperatures hitting 20oc and the water at 9oc the fish are feeding hard on the top all day. All areas of the Loch are producing excellent sport to dries and nymphs and as the picture shows the Rainbows are in great shape. Best fish this week 9Lbs 2oz Rainbow. Rod average for the year is 4

4th November 2007 The last 5 weeks have been fantastic and have gone a little way to make up for the weather during June and July. With daily temperatures in double figures the sport has been fast and on the top. Small and very small dries have been by far the best option and a number of large Rainbows have been taken on size 18's and 20's! Both boat and bank anglers have been enjoying sport in the shallow bays with small dries, nymphs and buzzers.

With only 8 days to go to opening day the weather looks like it may be kind to us! The Loch is in great shape, very clear and averaging 3 oC, lots of fish showing in the shallows. Medium sinkers with mini lures and nymphs should be your best bet, lookforward to welcoming you back 9am Saturday 15th.

March 15th 2008. The season got off to a great start with conditions better than we could have wished for. The fish were in the shallows and small nymphs on slow sinkers did best. Up at the reeds a few fell to dries! A fantastic Brown of 8lbs was returned and Rainbows to 7lbs were recorded.

5th April 08. The weather has been the worst I can recall for 8 years. We have been hit by 80mph north storms and freezing conditions. Since opening day we have had 3 good fishing days with fish on the top. As I write the snow is horizontal with the wind again in the north at 30 mph. The anglers that have got out have had Browns to 8lbs and many fine Rainbows in the 5 to 7Lbs class, rod average is 3.5 for the year. Lets hope that the weather is kind to us soon!!!

21st April At last a couple of days of reasonable weather, the fish have come onto the top and are hard on the first of the black buzzers. There have been lots of very high quality Rainbows in the 3 to 4 Lbs class, keen to take well persented dries and buzzer patterns. The top end is where the best of the sport is to be had. Lets hope that things stay settled and the temperature hits double figures!!

May 5th 2008, At last, the weather has changed and the fishing has been back to its very best. The hatch of large Black Buzzers has been on now for 6 days and the fish will not look at anything other than well presented copies. Either floating lines with long leaders or sink tips are the best option depending on the wind. It was good to see Graham back on the Loch on Saturday I don't think the trout were so glad, well done on a fantastic days sport! Plenty of good rainbows to 7Lbs have been taken and many reports of smash takes and big fish lost after the cast giving in! Rod average for the year is at 3.5.
